It looks like some varied weather is on the way for southern Ontario, bringing snow, freezing rain and brisk winds.

Early risers hoping for a colourful morning sky during Sunday’s 7:44 a.m. sunrise will be out of luck, with clouds expected to block the view.

Ontario residents will wake up to mainly cloudy skies, with rain and snow expected to begin in the morning and continue into the afternoon.

Wind speed will pick up to 15 km/h in Hamilton and Halton, while 20 km/h winds will be felt in Mississauga, Brampton and Durham Region.

Daytime highs will vary across the region, starting with morning wind chills ranging from -7 C to -9 C. Later in the day, temperatures will rise above freezing to 2 C in Mississauga, Brampton and Durham, 3 C in Hamilton, and 1 C in Halton.

According to Environment Canada, Halton could see some patchy freezing rain or freezing drizzle in the late afternoon and into the evening, potentially creating hazardous travel conditions.

Sunset begins at 4:39 p.m.

Skies will remain cloudy as periods of rain and snow set in during the evening. Temperatures will hold steady at daytime levels in Mississauga and Halton, while Hamilton will see a slight dip to 1 C. Interestingly, Durham will experience a rise, with temperatures climbing to 3 C.

Overnight fog patches will develop across the cities around midnight and continue into morning.

Environment Canada notes that morning temperatures in southern Ontario will rise to between 3 C and 5 C by Monday morning.

The rest of the week is shaping up to be rather gloomy, with predominantly cloudy skies from Monday to Thursday. Rain is expected from Monday into Tuesday, followed by snow on Wednesday, though accumulation levels remain uncertain. Thursday will bring a mix of sun and clouds, but don’t let the sunshine fool you—temperatures will drop to -4 C, making it the coldest day of the week. By Friday, the sunshine will fade as clouds return, accompanied by more snowfall.

Daytime highs throughout the week are expected to range from -4 C to 8 C, while evening lows fall between -8 C and 1 C.
