Several viral online videos that showed a dirt bike rider driving dangerously and popping wheelies in Mississauga have led to numerous charges for a 24-year-old man.
The videos, which were posted to social media platform Instagram in September, show a man on a Surron dirt bike “performing dangerous manoeuvres, such as wheelies, and driving in an extremely dangerous manner,” Peel Regional Police said in a news release on Friday announcing the arrest.
The investigation was conducted largely by officers with the Peel police Safer Roads Team, which uses specific tactics to target aggressive and high-risk drivers who pose a risk to public safety in Mississauga and Brampton.
Kenny Thomas, 24, of Mississauga, was arrested on Oct. 25. He’s charged with:
- dangerous operation (three counts)
- flight from peace officer (two counts)
- mischief (two counts)
- obstruct police (two counts)
- stunt driving (five counts)
- drive motor vehicle without licence (four counts)
- disobey stop sign — fail to stop
- red light — fail to stop
The accused was held pending a bail hearing in Brampton court.
The investigation is ongoing, police say.
