Get ready to bust out your best moves for an evening of traditional Indian dance, music and food at the free Community Garba coming to Brampton.

Back for another year, the free community event running later this month gives Brampton residents of all backgrounds a chance to take part in the Garba – a traditional dance that originated in India’s Gujarat region and is known for its lively, joyful style of dance, colourful clothing and energetic music.

The Community Garba returned to Brampton in 2023 year after a three-year break due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

This year’s event at Chinguacousy Park promises to be “a feast for the senses” with stage performances, food vendors and activities and games for the whole family.

Mayor Patrick Brown said he’s been to Gujarat nine times for community-building trips and encouraged Brampton residents to take part in the celebration.

“The Community Garba event is a wonderful opportunity for residents of all backgrounds to come together and celebrate the rich cultural tradition from Gurjarat,” Brown said in a statement.
