Mississauga officials tasked with planning future cycling projects and improving upon existing ones across the city are seeking input from those who spend a lot of time getting around on two wheels.

“Whether you ride a bike to the park with your family, commute by bike to work or cycle for exercise, we want to know more about your experience riding a bike in Mississauga,” City of Mississauga officials say in an online introduction to their 2022 Cycling Survey.

“Your feedback will help the City understand your needs and inform decisions about future cycling projects, infrastructure and programs.”

Officials say the cycling survey will help them understand:

  • what’s important to those who ride a bike in Mississauga
  • where, when and how often people ride a bike in the city
  • people’s comfort level on certain cycling infrastructure (on-road bike lanes, multi-use trails)
  • where cyclists would like bike parking facilities installed
  • what would encourage cyclists to travel by bike more often

Last month, officials with the City’s Bike Parking Program, which installed 42 racks at high-traffic locations across the city last year, took to social media encouraging cyclists to speak up about where additional racks might be needed.

“Where would you like more bike parking? You can request bike racks on City sidewalks, parks, buildings, transit terminals and more,” City officials said in a post to Twitter in early August.
