The female cyclist was hit on Airport Road between Thamesgate Drive and Slough Street in Mississauga, Peel Regional Police said in the tweet today (Aug. 23) at 6:39 a.m.

The collision reportedly happened just before 5 a.m. this morning.

Police said the driver fled the scene.

There was no further information about the type of vehicle involved in the collision.

But there were reports the vehicle was located a short distance away.

The age of the cyclist was also not released.

Airport Road was closed in both directions between Thamesgate Drive and Slough Street.
