One person has been taken to hospital after a collision that shut down a Brampton intersection Saturday morning.

Paramedics responded at 9:38 a.m. to a vehicle that had struck a cyclist at Bramalea Road and Avondale Boulevard, north of Steeles Avenue East.

The cyclist, a male adult, was transported to a trauma centre in life-threatening condition.

Police say the driver remained at the scene.

The intersection remains closed in all directions. Drivers should avoid the area.
