COVID-19 hotspots in Mississauga and Brampton: Dec. 5 to 11

Peel Region has identified a number of areas with higher COVID-19 rates in Mississauga and Brampton for the week of Dec. 5 to 11.

The region’s interactive map shows some areas reporting rates of up to 284.1 per 100,000 (area of QEW/Cawthra and QEW/Trotwood Ave to the Canadian National Railway in Mississauga).

In Brampton, the area with the highest rate is Tobram/Central Park Dr to Bramalea/Queen St E, with a rate of 154.6 per 100,000.

According to Peel, the map shows a crude incidence rate defined as the total number of new cases within a specific time period divided by the total population and multiplied by 100,000.

For the week of Dec. 5 to 11, 264 new cases were reported in Mississauga and 204 were reported in Brampton.

507 cases were reported for the region overall.

For all Ontario residents, the overall percent positivity among those tested for COVID-19 during the week of Dec. 5 was 3.1%, up 0.2% from the previous week, according to Toronto-based research group ICES.

25,174,953 vaccine doses have been administered in Ontario to date, with 90.4% of Ontarians 12+ having received one dose and 87.8% having received two doses.
