A couple has been charged for leaving their child unattended in a car in Mississauga.

On Tuesday (May 25), police were called to the area of Tranmere Drive and Derry Road East that had been locked in a car alone.

The responding officer had to break a window of the car, to unlock the door and free the child–who was taken to hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.

As a result, a 28-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman have been charged with Failing to Provide the Necessities of Life and Abandoning Child.

They are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on August 9, 2021.

The investigation is still ongoing, and anyone with relevant information is urged to contact investigators at 905-453-2121 extension 3460.
