Police have charged a driver from Brantford with an impaired driving offence after a two-vehicle crash north of Brampton led to injuries.

The crash happened shortly after 4 p.m. on Friday when the OPP says two vehicles collided on Mayfield Road near McLaughlin Road, near the border of Brampton and Caledon.

Police say minor injuries were reported and while officers were investigating the crash they discovered one of the drivers was impaired by alcohol.

The OPP says a 25-year-old driver from Brantford was arrested and charged with operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).

Police agencies across Ontario are now conducting mandatory breathalyzer alcohol screening at every traffic stop on GTA highways, including the QEW and Highways 403 and 401.

Police say anyone who suspects a driver of operating while impaired by drugs or alcohol is encouraged to call 911 and report it when safe to do so. Anonymous tips may also be provided to Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-222-8477 or visiting www.ontariocrimestoppers.ca.
