Construction closes busy road down to one lane until mid-2025 in Brampton

Repair work will see a busy roadway reduced to just one lane until the middle of next year that could cause traffic back-ups in Brampton.

The work is needed “to maintain and improve existing water services” in Brampton with Peel Public Works crews replacing an aging watermain along Williams Parkway.

The lane closures are already in effect along a 700-metre stretch of Williams Parkway between Dixie Road and Howden Boulevard, and will be in place until at least August of next year.

“At this stage in the project, temporary lane reductions will be required to complete this work,” the region says of the repairs.

Westbound traffic on Williams Parkway has been reduced to a single lane and the region says to “expect delays and choose alternate routes if possible.”

Peel Public Works says the construction will use a “trenchless installation” to reduce traffic impacts, but could lead to residents in the area feeling some rumblings.

“As a result, you may feel slight vibrations while the tunneling work is being performed,” the region says.

And with snow soon expected in Brampton, the region says weather “and other unpredictable events” may lead to longer traffic impacts.

Pedestrian traffic will also be impacted as the sidewalk is closed on the north side of Williams Parkway between Dixie Road and Howden Boulevard.

Pedestrians will need to use the sidewalk on the south side of Williams Parkway, or access Newbridge Crescent and Newcastle Crescent via trails connecting to the north side of Williams Parkway.
