The Rockway Conservation Area in St Catharines will see replaced boardwalks and additional signage, thanks to a federal grant.

Two conservation areas in Lincoln and one apiece in St. Catharines and Pelham are on the receiving end of $750,000 from the federal government to improve conditions within their boundaries.

The grants come courtesy of the Federal Economic Development Agency and Lincoln’s Cave Springs Conservation Area is the biggest recipient, getting money to improve their signage, the parking areas, multiple entrances and accessibility to the trail will be resurfaced from clay to tiny pebbles that will allow for pets and scooters.

St. Johns Conservation Area in Pelham will see repairs to their parking area, stairs, and boardwalks, as well as new signage.

Louth Conservation Area in Lincoln and Rockway Conservation Area in St Catharines will see replaced boardwalks and additional signage.

The Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority will also be adding controlled gates to prevent problematic behaviour, such as late night on-site drinking and signage explaining the natural heritage of the conservation areas.
