Niagara Regional Police are advising the public of planned protests in Niagara Falls today, which may lead to extended road closures and traffic delays.
A large number of officers will be in the downtown tourist area to ensure the safety of everyone involved during the protests.
It’s reported that supporters of Palestine will demonstrate for a ceasefire and an arms embargo on both sides of the border.
In Canada, participants may gather at Highway 420 and Stanley Avenue, while in the U.S., it will be along Prospect Point Observation Point.
However, authorities have not confirmed this information.
Police say these protests will be “fluid in nature,” meaning the demonstration’s route, timing, and other factors may change unpredictably throughout the event.
Officials emphasize their respect for the right to peaceful assembly and expression while also adding, “The right to protest ends when criminal behaviour begins.”
Individuals in the area are asked to be respectful of one another and of officers.
Drivers are advised to avoid the area and use alternate routes for the time being.
