A popular chain restaurant has closed one location in Mississauga.
The East Side Marios location on Dundas Street near Dixie Road closed permanently, according to a sign posted in the window.
The restaurant’s last day was Oct. 29.
“Mama mia…we’re closing!” the sign reads. “We’d like to thank you for your support over the years and fro allowing us to be a part of your famiglia.”
The East Side Mario’s at the Heartland Town Centre, 5855 Rodeo Dr. in Mississauga remains open.
The restaurant had many good reviews on Google.
“A warm welcoming atmosphere for a quick dinner,” one person wrote two months ago.
“First time here, it was on a Monday and very few people, service was friendly and food came out very fast,” another wrote.
But more recently reviewers complained about slow service and poor food.
“Horrible, took 17 mins to place order, then another 40 mins to get our order…” one person wrote recently.
This particular location opened with much fanfare in January 2016, according to a story in FoodService and Hospitality magazine.
The 4,500-square-foot location featured a new look for the restaurant franchise with “bright pops of colour, wood and wall graphics.”
East Side Mario’s opened its first location in Aventura Mall in Miami, Florida in 1987.
“We wanted to show you the hospitality and passion for great food that Italians are known for around the world – and have a little fun doing it,” East Side Mario’s notes on its website.
