Square one Mississauga closure

One of the original stores to open its doors at the Square One Shopping Centre has closed up shop after 50 years in Mississauga.

First opening when the mall was new in 1973, women’s clothing retailer Fairweather closed its doors in the Mississauga mall last week.

Known for modern, fashion-forward pieces, the retailer was one of the original 160 stores to open in Square One alongside now-closed shops like Maison Birks, as well as Hudson’s Bay, Coles and others.

Shoppers may have seen the shuttered Fairweather storefront and a search for Fairweather on the Square One director returns no results. Guest Services for Square One confirmed to INsauga.com on Tuesday that the retailer had closed.

While its Square One location is gone, shoppers in Mississauga looking for Fairweather’s fashion can still visit the store located in Erin Mills Town Centre.

Other notable closures by original Square One stores include Sears, which has pulled out of Canada entirely, and Laura Secord.
