CLOSURE: Major part of Gardiner Expressway is closed in Toronto

A man has been taken to a hospital with serious injuries following an accident on the Gardiner Expressway early Monday morning in Toronto.

The accident occurred around 5:30 a.m. when a fire truck responding to a two-vehicle collision near Park Lawn Road was struck by another vehicle.

Toronto Paramedic Services reported that the injured man sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

As authorities investigate the incident, all westbound lanes of the Gardiner Expressway are closed between South Kingsway and Royal York. The timeline for reopening the lanes remains unclear.

UPDATE: The westbound Gardiner has now re-opened (8:00 a.m.).
