Brampton’s Peel Memorial Centre urgent care centre is once again closed despite plans to reopen on Tuesday.
Last month, William Osler Health System temporarily closed the urgent care centre due to increasing patient volumes in emergency departments caused by the surge in COVID-19 Omicron infections.
The centre had tentative plans to reopen on Jan. 11, but the shut down was extended until at least February.
On Friday, Osler said the shutdown is being extended again “until further notice” to enable the health system “to continue to direct our highly-skilled staff and physicians to where demand is greatest.”
“We remain committed to re-opening the (urgent care centre) as soon as possible,” Osler said in a statement. “We appreciate your patience as we continue to re-evaluate based on patient volumes, available staffing and capacity across our sites.”
