A dump truck crash has closed the QEW in both directions in Mississauga this morning.
The truck hit a bridge overpass that goes over the highway between Cawthra Road and Dixie Road just before 8 a.m., OPP said in a post on X.
The highway was closed between Cawthra and Dixie roads.
OPP didn’t say how the truck hit the overpass. No injuries have been reported.
Toronto-bound traffic is being diverted to exit at Cawthra Road and Fort Erie-bound traffic is being diverted to Dixie Road, police said.
The highway was expected to be closed for at least five hours, according to Peel Regional Police, who are assisting OPP.
South Service Road is also shut down in both directions, police added. North Service Road is closed for westbound traffic at Stanfield Road.
In an update, OPP said the truck hit a pedestrian bridge under construction. Police expect the QEW to remain closed in both directions until approximately 2 p.m. Cranes were on location around 10 a.m.
The Ogden Avenue pedestrian bridge has faced delays, but was expected to be completed this summer.
Update: The QEW reopened in both directions as of around noon, according to an update from the OPP.
