A warehouse-style grocery store has closed and will be replaced with another supermarket in Mississauga.

The Wholesale Club at 325 Central Parkway W. in Mississauga has closed.

The grocery store, with locations across Canada, sells items in large quantities much like Costco but without the membership. Buying in bulk can help save money — particularly for businesses or families.

The store will be replaced by a No Frills, a voice message on the Wholesale Club Mississauga store says.

The building has reportedly been painted the tell-tale yellow of a No Frills.

A post on Yelp claims the new store will open on Oct. 4. But a spokesperson from Loblaw declined to say when the new store would open.

“We are looking forward to opening a new No Frills store at 325 Central Pkwy. W. in Mississauga later this year,” the spokesperson said.

Some customers are upset about the change.

“This was a place was a mini Costco where you could get in without a membership,” a post on Reddit reads. “It was good place to buy Candy, pop, frozen meats and burgers in bulk.”

“We were disappointed when it closed. It was a great place for bulk items and cheap grocery,” another person said.

There are a few remaining Wholesale Club stores in the GTA. There is a location at 10909 Yonge St., Richmond Hill, and 2255 Barton St. E. in Hamilton.
