A crash and police investigation have closed lanes on two highways in Mississauga on Tuesday morning.
The collision, which occurred in the eastbound collector lanes of Highway 401 at Highway 403, was reported at 5:46 a.m., according to the Ministry of Transportation 511 page.
All lanes were immediately closed.
In an update just before 8 a.m., OPP said Highway 401 eastbound collector lanes at Dixie Road in Mississauga remained closed for the police investigation.
The Highway 410 southbound ramp to Highway 401 eastbound and the Highway 403 eastbound ramp to Highway 401 eastbound were also closed, police said.
The police investigation was reported in the area at 6:08 a.m., according to the MTO. The police investigation on the Highway 403 eastbound collector ramp at Highway 401 was reported at 6:50 a.m.
The closures were causing significant delays.
As of 11 a.m., OPP said the highway closures were expected to remain in place for several more hours for the investigation.
In an update around 10:30 a.m., OPP said they were searching for and armed and dangerous man last seen at Highway 427 and Fasken Drive in Etobicoke.
The man is described as a Black man, 25 to 35 years old, approximately five-foot-ten inches tall with long, braided hair (to middle of his back).
He was wearing jeans, a blue and grey t-shirt and white and black running shoes. He had a satchel on his shoulder, police said.
The public is advised to not to approach the suspect and call 911 immediately if seen.
Police couldn’t confirm if a video circulating on social media shows the person. The video shows a man walking on a highway. The poster claims the man had a gun was walking on the Highway 410 and Highway 401 eastbound merge lanes.
