Another gaming store plans to shut its doors permanently in Mississauga.

The GameStop (previously EB Games) location at South Common Centre, 2150 Burnhamthorpe Rd. W. has announced it is closing.

The shop’s last day is Sunday, Feb. 11, according to a sign posted in the window and insauga.com confirmed the closure.

There was no reason given for the closure but late last year the Texas-based company reported declining revenues as more people buy video games online.

More than 1,000 stores have closed in recent years, according to news reports.

And this is the second GameStop location to close in Mississauga in recent months. The Erin Mills Town Centre location closed on Dec. 10.

The shop opened in the early 2000s and many are lamenting the loss, according to a post on Reddit.

“That location was well loved and well patronized by my university self,” one former customer wrote.

“Everything Becoming Digital Now, Sadly.. RIP Hard Copies Lol,” another person wrote.

The closure means there are now only two GameStop locations left in Mississauga — Square One and Heartland Town Centre.
