A favourite haunt of comic book collectors and gamers has closed up shop in Brampton after decades of serving the community.

Brampton’s Comic Warehouse has officially closed its doors for the last time, according to a post on the retailer’s social media.

The store selling comics, action figures and collectibles opened back more than 35 years ago and was run by Mark Bell, who died in 2021. The store remained open after Bell’s passing but had its last day open to the public at 20 Strathearn Ave. on Sept. 30.

The shop was a generational hangout for locals with geeky pastimes like boardgames, miniature painting and comic book collecting, hosting regular events, gaming tournaments and get-togethers.

Bell’s obituary page is full of posts from customers sharing their fond memories of the store.

In its farewell post, the Comic Warehouse said they are looking at the possibility of opening a new location but no further details have been shared.
