If you plan on spending some time outside tonight, you might want to reschedule if you can.
According to the city, temperatures in Mississauga are set to drop below -19 with the wind chill this evening (Feb. 20).
During cold weather events, various community centres are available to those who are looking to get out of the cold. You can find Community Centre locations and hours here.
If you will be spending time outside, you’re advised to dress in layers to suit the weather conditions and cover up as much exposed skin as possible; stay dry and limit your time outdoors as much as possible; drink warm fluids but avoid caffeinated and alcoholic beverages, and call or visit vulnerable friends, neighbours and family to ensure they are not experiencing any difficulties related to the weather.
Residents are reminded to bring pets inside during extremely cold weather.
