Ontario, Mississauga, Oakville, Chorizo Fresh Mex, closed, tacos, burritos, quesadillas, nachos, churros

Lovers of tacos, burritos, and quesadillas made with chorizo pork sausage have one less restaurant to satisfy their hunger.

Chorizo Fresh Mex, located in the Clarkson Crossing plaza in Mississauga near Oakville has permanently closed its doors. The store had been operating at 950 Southdown Road for almost 20 years.

The food stop offered simple Mexican food favourites along with salads and homemade guacamole. Some customers were surprised to see it had closed.

“I love this place,” said Jordan L on Google reviews. “Been going since it was first opened, but came there today at 11:50 a.m. and it was closed. Is it closed down now?”

The location had its share of long-time customers.

“I’ve been going to this location for years,” said Paul Kostov on Google Reviews. “Used to live in the area, but have since moved. . . I still make the trip out there, because the chorizo burrito is that good!

“I find the place very clean and the staff very polite and courteous. The toppings are healthy, and they grill the meat while you wait so everything is fresh.”

Other menu items at Chorizo Fresh Mex also included bowls, fajitas, nachos, and desserts such as churros.

Frank DeMedeiros started the franchise, which has other locations in Oakville, Burlington, Milton, and Whitby, in 2005.

DeMedeiros was inspired by the taco stands of Mexico and the burrito shops of San Francisco’s Mission District.

“Our authentic Mission District experience features the freshest ingredients used to make our guacamole and salsas from scratch daily,” he said on the fast-food restaurant’s website. “Our marinated meats are cooked fresh to order, we also have a great selection of Mexican refreshments and freshly prepared churros.”
