As a precautionary measure, Loblaw Co. is recalling select packages of No Name chicken burgers as they may pose a health risk to consumers if improperly prepared.

The recalled product, sold before June 2, 2018, has a best before code “2019 FE 06” or inner bag code “0378M” and UPC 060383166366.

Raw chicken that is improperly prepared can expose consumers to salmonella.

Health Canada says the risk of contracting salmonella can be avoided by carefully following cooking instructions on a food’s packaging (frozen, raw breaded chicken products should be cooked to a safe internal temperature of at least 74 degrees Celsius or 165 degrees Fahrenheit).

In Ontario, the chicken burgers were sold at Fortinos, Loblaws, No Frills, Real Canadian Superstore, Valu-Mart, Independent, Zehrs, Wholesale Club, City Market, and affiliated independent stores.

All affected products have been removed from store shelves.

Customers can return this product to any store where No Name products are sold and they will be provided a full refund.
