About a year after the studio’s development was announced, American media company CBS has officially opened its brand new film/TV studio today in Mississauga.
The studio, dubbed CBS Stages Canada, is described as a massive, 260,000 square-foot state-of-the art production facility. It’s located at 1850 Matheson Boulevard East, near Dixie at the 401.
According to CBS, the facility is said to include six soundstages, production offices, support facilities, and auxiliary services for large-scale television and film production.
The studio will provide extra production space for the network’s large line-up of 60+ televisions shows, which includes notable programs such as Criminal Minds, Young Sheldon, Survivor, and The Price is Right.
Additionally, the studio promises to create hundreds of new jobs for local talent in fields such as construction, ongoing facility management, production, and crafts.
Mayor Bonnie Crombie attended the studio’s official opening on Thursday, September 26.
