Police are searching for a suspect captured on video entering a temple in Mississauga.

The break-and-enter happened in a temple in the 1800 block of Drew Road in Malton on June 12, Peel Regional Police said in a press release today (Aug. 24).

The Hindu JeyaDurgha Temple is located at 1808 Drew Rd.

Police say someone entered the temple between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m. on June 12.

Once inside, the suspect allegedly stole money from donation boxes before fleeing the scene, police said.

There was no damage to the temple’s religious symbols or artifacts, police added.

Police believe the suspect’s motives were to steal the contents of the donation boxes and that this was not a hate-motivated crime.

The suspect is described as male with a dark complexion and average build. He was wearing a black hoody with the hood up, a white surgical face mask, black pants, and Nike running shoes (grey with white trim).
