gunpoint carjacking brampton

A resident was allegedly forced back into their home at gunpoint in a Brampton carjacking.

The incident happened on Saturday, Jan. 6 after a resident parked their vehicle at home near Mayfield Road and Creditview Road in Brampton, Peel Regional Police said in a press release.

While standing near the trunk, the victim was approached by men, who forced him back into the residence at gunpoint, police said.

The men demanded the vehicle keys and fled in the victim’s car, police said.

The victim sustained minor physical injuries as a result of the robbery; however, they declined medical attention, police said.

Two suspects were located shortly after the robbery, and two additional suspects were located in a residence nearby, police said.

All four suspects were arrested without incident.

A new provincial Carjacking Joint Task Force aided in the quick arrests, police said.

A loaded mini Draco AK47 firearm with ammunition was seized by police.

The victim’s vehicle has been recovered.

Four men face charges.

Elijah Kerridge-Lall, a 21-year-old man from Whitby, faces several charges including robbery with a firearm, wearing a disguise with intent, unauthorized possession of a firearm, and pointing a firearm.

Jaden Jones, a 21-year-old man from Brampton, Romello Buchanan, a 23-year-old man from Brampton, and Jaiden Waite, a 22-year-old man from Brampton are all charged with robbery with a firearm, wearing a disguise with intent, and possession of stolen property.

All men appeared in the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton for bail hearings on Jan. 8.

As a result of the rising incidents of violence related to auto crimes across the Greater Toronto Area local police services have combined resources and established a provincial Carjacking Joint Task Force to coordinate further law enforcement efforts in combating these crimes.

This collaborative approach aims to disrupt the networks responsible for violent and high-risk auto thefts and maximize enforcement efforts against criminal organizations, police said.

Co-led by the Toronto Police Service and the Ontario Provincial Police, the task force is a collaboration between police services from across the GTA, including York Regional Police, Halton Regional Police Service, Durham Regional Police Service, Peel Regional Police, and other external agencies, including Criminal Intelligence Service of Ontario.
