Digital imaging company Canon Canada celebrated its 50th anniversary by showing off new technologies, products and improvements to its massive headquarters located in Brampton.

The showcase was part of an open house last week at the Canon head office, a massive 19,000-square-foot facility at 8000 Mississauga Road in Brampton, and offered a glimpse of new developments in AI, virtual reality and medical field as well as imaging, printing, software and more.

Employing over 300 people, Canon’s Brampton base of operations features a 5,000-square-foot showroom of past, present and future products, open-concept work spaces and technology-enhanced meeting rooms and collaboration areas. There’s also a fitness centre, a walking trail, a full-service cafeteria, an on-site service centre and a large-format printing lab.

The facility has been Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold-certified and includes green technologies like energy-efficient lighting and a rooftop greywater system, reducing its city water intake by 20 per cent.

Mayor Patrick Brown congratulated the company on the 50th-anniversary milestone and its developments in fields like medical imaging, printing and space imaging.

“As a thriving hub for technology and innovation, we are delighted to have Canon Canada play an integral role in creating jobs within our community,” Brown said in a statement. “It is a great honour to celebrate this significant achievement with you. We look forward to continuing to work together while inspiring innovation for the future.”
