A Caledon resident faces charges in an alleged conspiracy to commit murder.

Caledon OPP say they received information regarding an alleged conspiracy to commit murder on Jan. 6.

“The information was obtained as part of a separate investigation led by a different police service,” OPP Const. Joe Brisebois tells inbrampton. “Since the accused is a resident of Caledon, the details were forwarded to Caledon OPP to investigate.”

This was a case of conspiracy to commit murder but no homicide took place, Brisebois adds.

The accused was arrested on Jan. 23 while already in custody.

Santasia Charles, 25, of Caledon, faces the following Criminal Code charges:

  • Counselling to commit, section 464(a)
  • Uttering threats, section 264(1)(a)

Section 464(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada is “counselling to commit an indictable offence.”

Charles is in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on Feb. 9, 2023.

OPP say the investigation is ongoing.
