Caledon man faces charges of cocaine trafficking

A 41-year-old Caledon man is facing three criminal charges, after being arrested in relation to a recent drug trafficking investigation.

The Ontario Provincial Police says that search warrants were executed last Friday (April 22) after several weeks of investigation by the community street crime unit (CSCU) of the Caledon OPP Detachment. The warrants were carried out on with the assistance of an emergency response team (ERT), Caledon platoon officers and a canine unit.

As a result, the following items were seized: A 2020 Cadillac, suspected cocaine, currency, jewellery, a mobile phone and other property.

Joseph Mete, age 41, of Caledon, has been charged with

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking — cocaine
  • Trafficking in a Schedule I substance — cocaine
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000

The accused was held for a bail hearing, the OPP said.
