Part of a busy road next to the QEW in Mississauga will be reduced to one lane of traffic for the next two weeks as crews continue working on the highway bridge over the Credit River.

Officials with the QEW/Credit River Improvement Project overseeing the major bridge rehabilitation work say Premium Way, between Stavebank Road and Lynchmere Avenue, will be reduced to one lane between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on weekdays until Sept. 15.

Two-way traffic will be maintained at all times via flagging operations on that section of the road, which runs parallel to the QEW and to the immediate north of the busy highway.

Additionally, officials say, access to Stavebank Road, Dickson Road and Lynchmere Avenue along Premium Way will be maintained at all times.

There will be no lane restrictions on weekends or on Friday, Sept. 1 or Monday, Sept. 4, officials say.

Project leaders also remind motorists that multiple lane and ramp closures on the QEW in Mississauga in addition to nearby road restrictions are all part of the mix for the next couple of weeks.

The closures include four lanes of the QEW that will shut down each night/overnight through Sept. 15.

Temporary nighttime/overnight closures have been commonplace since last fall both on the QEW and nearby roads due to the massive project that began two years ago.

More traffic disruptions are anticipated as work continues in the coming months. Night and weekend work along the 2.6-km stretch of the QEW from Hurontario St. to Mississauga Rd. is expected to impact traffic for the duration of the project.
