Construction along a major Mississauga transit route this month means that some bus stops are out of service.
The work along Lakeshore Road East at Lakefront Promenade means that until Nov. 23, bus stops between Ogden Avenue and Hydro Road will not be in service.
Bus routes impacted are 5 Dixie N, 23 Lakeshore, and Ogden Shuttle.
All service updates and notices can be found here.
The construction is also affecting car and truck traffic as watermain pipe installation is being carried out along the road.
A detour is now in effect south of Lakeshore Road via Rangeview Road. Advance warning and detour signs are in place to guide drivers, pedestrians and cyclists.
The construction work will be carried out on a 24-hour basis and is being done to support the infrastructure needed for the Lakeview Village development project.
After this week, the closure will shift eastward to Lakeshore Road East at Hydro Road (Jim Tovey Blvd.) for an additional six days.
Mississauga Ward 1 Councillor Stephen Dasko said the work is necessary for the Lakeview Village project.
“We understand this may cause inconvenience and sincerely appreciate your patience as this vital work is completed in the area,” said Dasko. “The Region of Peel and the City of Mississauga are working diligently with the project management team to ensure that this overdue and necessary work is completed within the time frame and minimizes inconvenience.”
