Police have charged a Brampton resident with over a dozen offences including assault, break-and-enter and uttering threats following a call about an impaired driver.

The incident happened around 9 p.m. on Friday when the OPP says officers from the Dufferin detachment were called to Leanne Lane in the town of Shelburne, some 65 kilometres north of Brampton.

The OPP says the driver fled the scene before police arrived, but officers managed to locate the suspect vehicle which led to an impaired driving investigation.

A 40-year-old from Brampton was hit with 16 charges, including nine counts of failure to comply with release order, uttering threats, break-and-enter, assault, and multiple impaired driving-related offences.

The name of the accused has not been released.

Dufferin police were kept busy by alleged impaired drivers on the weekend, including a 49-year-old from Caledon charged with multiple offences including driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor.
