The LGBTQ+ community in Brampton is vast and varied. Peel Pride already hosts flag raisings, picnics, and brunches across Brampton in early July, and now, a brand new event is on its way to good ol’ B-town.
Brampton’s first major Pride event ever is called Pride in the Square. This will be the first Pride festival ever held in Garden Square in Brampton.
It’s happening on Sunday July 8, 2018, from 12-5 p.m. at Garden Square in downtown Brampton.
According to the city, the afternoon will boast family friendly entertainment, performers, music, and more.
Currently, Garden Square is accepting applications for performers, community fair exhibitors, and digital art submissions to fill the Square with unique programming and activities for the event.
“Our goal for entertainment is to present an overall lineup that best represents the full spectrum of diversity and talent within Brampton and Peel Region’s LGBTTIQQ2SA communities,” reads the city’s website.
“The City of Brampton’s Garden Square team invites artists to submit digital, screen based work in all genres based on the theme What Pride Means To Me. Artists will be asked to explore their idea and interpretation of what Pride means to them.”
There’s also an after party happening in Garden Square from 5-8 p.m. DJ SikhKnowledge is spinning, bar service is available, and the party is 19+!
