Brampton will be home to a sprawling new Peel Regional Police facility that police say will help better meet the needs of the community.
The new five-storey, 200,000 square-foot building at Mississauga Road and Steeles Avenue West will house the PRP communications centre, records department, community safety wellbeing services, and information technology services.
Police say the new facility is part of an “organisational transformation” as the police force works to “meet the needs of one of Canada’s most diverse and fastest-growing communities.”
It will also include the future development of a fifth PRP division in northwest Brampton.
Ron Chatha, Chair of the Peel Police Services Board, said the new facility will also offer community support through the on-site Community Safety and Wellbeing bureau “and a design that will provide a welcoming environment for all visitors.”
The land for the new project was acquired by the Region of Peel in 2021, and PRP has engaged a designer with preliminary work already underway.
Construction on the new state-of-the-art police hub is slated to start next year with an anticipated completion date in late 2026.
