Brampton truck driver charged in highway crash that killed three

A 25-year-old Brampton man faces a number of criminal charges following a month-long investigation into a crash on Highway 401 that killed three people and injured two others.
The incident occurred April 18 on the highway near the village of Mailtand located between Kingston and Cornwall.
According to reports released by the Ontario Provincial Police, a tractor-trailer was traveling in the eastbound lanes of the highway when it collided with a car. Two children aged 7 and 3 were killed as was a 68-year-old man. All were from Quebec. Two others were injured and treated in hospital before being released.
Mehakdeep Singh, 25, was arrested following the investigation and charged with three counts of criminal negligence causing death and criminal negligence causing bodily harm.
