Thousands of teens in Brampton will be able to get across town and take in Brampton Recreation programs for free this summer with the Explore Brampton Youth Pass.

The City is bringing back its free youth pass program with 2,000 youth transit and summer drop-in recreation passes up for grabs, letting Brampton youths between 12 and 16 years old ride transit and attend city recreation programs free of charge during the summer months.

Applications for the Explore Brampton Youth Pass are open now and the deadline is May 7. The City says the youth passes will be valid from July 1 to Sept. 4.

The Explore Brampton project launched as a pilot program last year with City Council aiming to increase access and opportunities for youth across the city. The City says More than 1,200 applications were approved in the program’s first year and the top three recreation drop-in programs were fitness, swimming and basketball.

Coun. Rowena Santos said the Explore Brampton Youth Pass is an example of the City’s commitment to helping make Brampton a safe and healthy community through accessible programming.

“The City has so much to offer at all our Recreation Centres. Every corner of Brampton is alive with opportunity, whether that’s finding a new team, swimming, skating, hiking or biking,” Santos said in a release.
