Customer service counters at Brampton Transit’s Bramalea, Brampton Gateway and Downtown terminals will reopen from June 22, as part of the City of Brampton’s reopening and recovery plan.
Trinity Common Terminal building will remain closed due to the lack of space for physical distancing.
Due to limited capacity at Brampton Transit terminals, the below terminals will be open for transactions at the Customer Service counters, Gateway on the Go and washroom use.
Customer Service counter hours will be as follows.
Bramalea Terminal
- Monday to Friday: 6 AM to 8 PM
- Saturday: 9 AM to 6 PM
- Sunday: 11 AM to 6 PM
Brampton Gateway Terminal
- Monday to Friday: 6 AM to 8 PM
- Saturday: 9 AM to 6 PM
- Sunday: 11 AM to 6 PM
Downtown Terminal
- Monday to Friday: 7 AM to 7 PM
- Saturday: 9 AM to 6 PM
- Sunday: Closed
Safety measures will be in place as Customer Service counters reopen and two-metre physical distancing measures will be in effect.
Customers will be asked to remain two metres apart in lineups for customer service windows and signs will be posted to emphasize this measure.
Staff will also be in place at terminals to support physical distancing measures and keep customers informed.
Each terminal will have dedicated doors for entry and exit, where permitted and customer service counters and pin pads will be sanitized on a frequent basis.
Providing accessible transit for seniors remains a top priority for the City and all active Brampton Transit senior ID card expiry dates have been waived indefinitely, given the impact of COVID-19.
Clark and Sandalwood facilities continue to remain closed to the public.
Additionally, Brampton Transit will distribute 100,000 non-medical masks to its riders for free, while supplies last, as the first step of the City of Brampton’s reopening and recovery plan.
Non-medical masks will be distributed at Brampton Transit’s Bramalea, Brampton Gateway and Downtown Terminals towards the end of the week of June 22.
The City is also reminding riders that starting Thursday, July 2, fare payment and front door boarding will be reinstated.
From July 2, it will be mandatory for Brampton Transit riders and operators to wear non-medical masks on buses and at terminals, following Peel Public Health and the Government of Ontario’s strong recommendation to wear masks on public transit.
While masks are mandatory, young children or those with disabilities or other medical conditions that prevent them from wearing a mask will not be required to wear one.
Riders are encouraged to use their PRESTO card to pay their fare as a form of contactless payment.
Brampton Transit encourages riders who still use cash payments to acquire a PRESTO card from a Customer Service counter.
Starting June 22, the $6 PRESTO card fee will be waived for a limited time, one card per customer.
The City continues to urge riders to maintain physical distancing measures by staying at least two metres (six feet) away from each other at terminals and at bus stops, even while wearing a mask.
Riders are also reminded to carry their own personal disinfectant, such as hand sanitizer or wipes, when travelling, wash their hands often and cough or sneeze into their elbow.
An enhanced cleaning and sanitizing schedule remains in effect and it is Brampton Transit’s goal to disinfect all hard surfaces, operator compartments and seats every 48 hours.
The majority of buses are currently sanitized every 24 hours.
Facilities and terminals that have hard surfaces are wiped down and sanitized on a daily basis.
The City of Brampton is working closely with its partners at Peel Public Health and the Brampton Emergency Management Office to continue to monitor risks.
