A pair of soccer fields in Brampton will be named after local Olympic gold medalists from the Canadian National Women’s Team.
Kadeisha Buchanan and Ashley Lawrence were welcomed home by Mayor Patrick Brown and local councillors last night.
Earlier in the day, it was decided at Brampton city council meeting that the pair of Brams United Soccer Club alumi would be recognized with the pitch-naming honour.
Buchanan and Lawrence were key parts of Canada’s run to gold in Tokyo, the first time the squad has claimed Olympic gold.
It was a real honour to have Canadian Olympic gold medalists and @BramsUnited alumni @AshleyLawrence & @keishaballa visit #Brampton City Hall this evening. We are so proud of these two champions! #Olympics #TokyoOlympics2021 @CanadaSoccerEN pic.twitter.com/YTz0YAAIo5
