A Brampton resident is having a very good week after taking home a pretty substantial prize with Instant Emerald 7S.
Claudette Simpson just won $77,777 and is pretty excited about her big win.
“When I went to buy an Instant Emerald 7S ticket, there was another ticket stuck to it,” Simpson told OLG at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto. “I figured I would buy both tickets.”
According to OLG, Simpson scratched her tickets in her car.
“I took a sip of my coffee and began to play. When I got around to scratching my second ticket, it looked like maybe I had won something. I put my glasses on and my heart was beating so hard. I went back into the store to use the ticket checker. I tried to remain calm. I even asked a customer, a complete stranger, to come over and double check for me.”
After that, Simpson asked the retailer to validate her ticket.
“The terminal shut down. I was so nervous but also grateful. This money came to me at the right time. I recently found out I have to move and with my new windfall, I can take my time and find the right place for myself and my daughter.”
Simpson already has plans for her big win and hopes to rejuvenate her home and go on a trip.
“I definitely want a new bedroom suite. I would like to visit Jamaica with my daughter to just relax and enjoy. Finally, I will be starting an education fund for my little girl who is already talking about wanting to be a doctor.”
Instant Emerald 7S is available for $5 a play and there are 7 top prizes each worth $77,777. Odds of winning a prize are 1 in 3.86.
The winning ticket was purchased at Ace Convenience on Queen Street in Brampton.
