Halton Police have busted up a fentanyl ring that has recovered $4 million of the drug, the largest such operation in the department’s history.

The operation centred in Oakville in the Lakeshore Rd./Burloak Dr. area and was responsible for the spread of the deadly drug throughout the GTA.
Nine people of have been arrested including those from Oakville, Mississauga, Hamilton and Brampton, as well as those from other areas.
According to police, the operation started as a simple theft investigation that took place between June and September.
Six warrants were issued in Oakville, Mississauga, Brampton, Toronto and Markham.
Investigators seized 10 kg of fentanyl, which came in a variety of colours. One kg of cocaine, 1.25 kg of methamphetamine, six kg of other drugs, $300,000 and various weapons and stolen vehicles.
According to police, fentanyl has been responsible for 150 overdoes in Halton this year leading to 22 deaths and is a major contributor to overdoses across the country with the smallest amount proving to be fatal.
