Brampton opening outdoor skating rinks this weekend

Some of Brampton’s new outdoor artificial ice rinks will be open on Saturday.
The city announced is will open “select” outdoor rinks at 10 a.m. tomorrow (Dec. 4), weather permitting. Locations include Chinguacousy Park Skate Recreational Trail and Gage Park Outdoor Skating Recreational Trail.
The six rinks that have been installed can keep ice even in temperatures as warm as 9 C (48 F). Saturday’s forecast says the high will be 2 C (36 F).
Mount Pleasant Outdoor Skating Rink and Gore Meadows Covered Outdoor Skating Rink are scheduled to open for the season on Dec. 8, weather permitting. Temporary outdoor rinks at Flower City Community Campus, Morris Kerbel Park, and Earnscliffe Park are tentatively slated to open on Dec. 13.
Reservations are not required for outdoor skating, and Gage Park, Mount Pleasant, Chinguacousy Park, and Gore Meadows are now permitting the use of city-provided skate aids.
Skate rentals and skate sharpening will be available on a limited basis at Gage Park and Chinguacousy Park.
