With a municipal election coming in the fall, the City of Brampton wants residents considering a run for city council or the school board to get all the facts before nomination day.
The City of Brampton is holding an information session later this month for municipal and school board election candidates.
The hybrid in-person and virtual session will break down election rules and requirements, including candidate and third party advertiser eligibility, the nomination and registration process, campaign finance details, and key election cycle dates.
City staff will run the session alongside the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing and to help potential candidates gain a better understanding of what is required should they choose to file a nomination.
The session runs on April 12 from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. and is open to anyone considering a run for Brampton city council, the school board or registering as a third party advertiser.
Anyone wishing to attend must register ahead of time at brampton.ca/bramptonvotes.
The city will hold another information session for nominated candidates and registered third parties in September.
The candidate nomination period for the Brampton municipal election opens on May 2 and closes on August 19 at 2:00 p.m.
Brampton residents head to the polls for the municipal election on Oct. 24.
