A Brampton man has been sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole for 12 years for the druken murder of his friend in a brutal attack.

Around 12:45 p.m. on July 5, 2019, police were called to check on the well-being of a man believed to be residing in the area of Advance Boulevard and Dixie Road in Brampton.

When officers arrived on scene they located 54-year-old Ajay Chibber from Brampton suffering from apparent signs of trauma.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, and according to reports Chibber was found dead inside an industrial unit he shared with 48-year-old Brampton resident Churaman Ramgadoo.

Both men had reportedly been living inside the unit, and Ramgadoo drunkenly attacked and killed Chibber days before the body was found.

A judge found Ramgadoo had consumed alcohol before the attack which they descirbed as “especially brutal,” and that Ramgadoo had tried to cover up the murder.

The court heard Chibber was struck dozens of times, and Ramgadoo’s counsel called the murder the result of a drunken argument between the two men.

Ramgadoo was arrested and charged with second-degree murder more than a month after the killing, and on Thursday he was sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole for 12 years.
