Brampton man facing new charges in human trafficking investigation

Police have recently laid new charges as part of an ongoing human trafficking investigation in Peel.

The investigation began in February 2019 after a 26-year-old female victim came forward regarding a Brampton resident’s involvement in human trafficking.
In June 2019, 39 year old Brampton man Carl “Korey” Campbell was charged with numerous human trafficking offences.
The investigation continued in January 2020 when a second adult female victim, who had reportedly been exploited in the sex trade over a six-year period, came forward.
“The suspect exercised control over all aspects of the victim’s life and profited as a result,” police say.
On Thursday, February 27, Campbell was charged with the following:
- Human Trafficking
- Receiving Material Benefit
- Derive Material Benefit
- Procuring
- Exercise Control, Direction or Influence X 2
- Living on Avails of Prostitution
- Assault with a Weapon
- Assault Cause Bodily Harm X 3
- Assault
- Mischief under $5,000
- Utter Threats
- Forcible Confinement
- Sexual Assault
Campbell appeared in court for a bail hearing on Friday, February 28.
