The work of a suspicious bank worker has led to an arrest of a Brampton man on fraud charges.
Police in Guelph say the man went into the bank in that city yesterday (January 7) in an attempt to finish off setting up an account he had initiated online.
The alert staff member recognized that many of the documents the man was using were fake and called the police.
When they arrived on the scene Guelph police determined that the man’s driver’s license, social insurance number and birth certificate were fraudulent.
The 24-year-old Brampton man has been charged with fraud under $5,000 and three counts of possessing forged documents. His name has not been released by police. He is expected to appear in court to face the charges on April 23.
