Peel Regional Police are alerting the public and appealing for witnesses regarding a man who is accused of forcible kidnapping and robbery.
Diavion Henningham, 22, of Brampton, appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton on Friday. He is charged with forcible confinement and robbery. He is described as a Black man, approximately five-foot-seven and 140 pounds, with black hair worn in cornrows.
At this time, Peel police believe there might be more victims.
On May 21, at around 4 p.m., a 32-year-old Mississauga woman was walking near Hurontario Street and Eglington Avenue West. It was reported that as she walked by a blue 2015 Honda Civic, a man asked if he could use her phone. The woman gave him her phone. He then asked if she needed a ride home, which she accepted.
The man allegedly drove in the opposite direction of the woman’s home. It is also alleged that the man assaulted the woman multiple times, preventing her from exiting the car. She managed to get out of the car in the area of Godwick Drive and Atwood Lane, escaping with only minor injuries.
Peel Police investigators worked with investigators from the Toronto Police Service in regard to a similar incident involving the same man on May 23. He was driving a white Honda Civic in that incident. He was charged with attempted kidnapping.
