A Brampton man is among three people who have been charged in connection with an armed robbery at a Toronto jewelry store nearly two years ago, police say.

Toronto police provided an update Wednesday on a robbery that happened on Sept. 3, 2022.

Police said in a news release that at around 1:08 p.m., officers responded to a holdup in the Avenue Road and Bloor Street West area.

One of four male suspects approached the door of a jewelry store and requested to be let in, police said.

Once the door was opened, all four rushed into the store, police said.

“One suspect produced a firearm and made a demand for cash,” the release alleged.

“Two suspects produced hammers and began smashing the glass display cases.”

The suspects were allegedly able to flee the store with “a large quantity” of jewelry.

Police said investigators were able to identify three of the suspects and on Aug. 6, one of them turned himself in.

A 17-year-old boy from Toronto was charged with robbery with a firearm, conspiracy to commit an indictable offence, and possession of property obtained by crime.

Two days later, on Aug. 8, officers located another suspect who was already in custody regarding “an unrelated matter,” police said.

Brampton resident Peter Mitsakis, 32, was charged with robbery with a firearm, conspiracy to commit an indictable offence, and two counts of possession of property obtained by crime.

And on Tuesday, officers located the third identified suspect and he was arrested, police said.

Toronto resident Jordan Boodram, 19, has been charged with robbery with a firearm and conspiracy to commit an indictable offence.

Anyone with information on the case was asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
