Brampton man accused in relation to recent string of armed robberies

A Brampton man is facing long skein charges in relation to a recent series of armed robberies.

Investigators from the central robbery bureau from Peel Regional Police have arrested and charged a 25-year-old man. Between Jan. 31 and Feb. 9, the accused is alleged to have committed five robberies in the Region of Peel and one in the Halton Region. The accused brandished a firearm each time to intimidate the victims.

None of the victims suffered any physical injuries, police said.

After a detailed investigation, Ammanieky Nixon was located and arrested in the area of Rambler Drive and Kennedy Road in Brampton on Thursday (Feb. 10). He was found in possession of a replica firearm and a large hunting knife at the time of the arrest.

Nixon is charged with the following offences:

    • Robbery (six counts)
    • Use of an imitation firearm (six counts)
    • Wearing a disguise with intent to commit an offence (six counts)

Nixon made his first court appearance to answer to the allegations in Brampton on Friday.
