A Brampton family got a big holiday surprise with a $100,000 win in the Christmas Eve Lotto 6/49 draw.
Vernon Jr. Arceno is a manufacturing worker from Brampton who says he has been playing the lottery twice a week since moving to Canada in 2016.
The 46-year-old said he could barely believe his eyes when discovering he’d won $100,000 in the Dec. 24 Lotto 6/49 draw.
“I couldn’t believe it. I was so overwhelmed,” he said while picking up his winnings at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto. “I showed my wife using the OLG App and she was so shocked she had to scan the ticket twice.”
Arceno said he plans to put the money toward paying off his mortgage, top up his savings, and “even go back to the Philippines to visit my family.”
LOTTO 6/49 offers players a chance to win two multi-million dollar jackpots every Wednesday and Saturday, for the same $3 per play.
The Classic Draw offers a fixed $5 million jackpot for every draw, while the Gold Ball Draw guarantees a $1 million prize or the growing jackpot that starts at $10 million and can exceed $60 million.
OLG supports safe play and wants to keep the fun in the game. That’s why OLG is proud to be a leader in promoting responsible gambling with our globally recognized PlaySmart program.
